Ukraine establishes new National Intellectual Property Authority

On October 13, the Government adopted an order «On the National Intellectual Property Authority.» The body will begin operation the day after the decision is approved, serving as a single window for the documents protecting intellectual property rights.

The Authority’s functions include:

• acceptance of applications for state registration of copyright and agreements pertaining to the author’s right
• acceptance of applications for industrial property objects registration and inspection
• issuance of patents and certificates
• training, certification and registration of patent attorneys.

The decision marks successful completion of the institutional part of the intellectual property reform that has lasted for over four years.
