The Parliament Adopted Declaration “On the Russian Federation Committing Genocide in Ukraine”

Рада, зала, парламент

On April 14, the Verkhovna Rada recognized the genocide of the Ukrainian people by the armed forces of the russian federation, as well as russia’s political and military leadership of Russia under the veil of a full-scale war against Ukraine.

The Rada also called on the UN, the European Parliament, PACE, the OSCE, NATO, and the world Parliaments of foreign to recognize the genocide committed by Russia against the Ukrainian people, as well as the crimes against humanity and war crimes on the territory of Ukraine.

In the twentieth century, totalitarian dictatorships caused three tragedies on a global scale in Ukraine – the Holodomor, the Holocaust and Chornobyl. But those tragedies were not gone away. In the 21st century, Russia continues to commit genocide against Ukrainians. We call upon the world to recognize the war crimes and the crimes against humanity in Bucha, Borodianka, Irpin, Kharkiv, and Mariupol as a genocide. If we do not act now, this will embolden Putin’s regime, and we will see some time the atrocities in other European cities and towns.
