The government approves resolution to ensure gender equality

On October 9, the Cabinet of Ministers approved Regulations on the Designated Unit and Advisor on Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men.

From now on, executive bodies and local governments are required to create special units ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men. In addition, each local administration will now have a respective advisor position.

The units will analyze and assess the impact of state and regional policies on women and men and ensure the implementation of basic international human rights instruments.

In addition, the government has launched a Commission responsible for fulfilling Ukraine’s commitments on gender equality – an important step towards introducing European human rights standards in Ukraine. The body will coordinate interaction between various executive authorities.
