On October 6, as part of the 22nd Ukraine-EU Summit, the Government signed a EUR 300 million loan from the European Investment Bank to improve energy efficiency of 1,000 public buildings, including schools, cultural centers, kindergartens and hospitals. The project will extend their lifespan by at least 20 years, as well as reduce CO2 emissions by 1.25 million tons. Significant support will be given to small and mid-sized municipalities that have so far, lacked sustainable funding for the much needed renovation.
