Servant of the People Party Applied for Full ALDE Membership
Delivering on earlier landmark decision of the latest Servant of the People (SP) Party Congress, the party filed a formal application for full membership with European ALDE on 9 December 2021. On the following day, members of the SP Political Council: Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, party’s International Secretary, MP Vadym Halaychuk, MP Yevheniya Kravchuk, and Head of SP Youth Wing Ze!Molodizhka, MP Oleksandr Sanchenko participated in the ALDE Council’s meeting in Rome.
The ALDE family includes 72 European parties, including 6 Prime Ministers and as many Members of the European Commission, a faction in the European Parliament with 69 Members. ALDE is known to consistently and resolutely defend the interests of Ukraine and our territorial integrity. The alliance supports Ukraine’s aspiration to become a part of the EU in the future. The ALDE Council Meeting resulted in the passage of two important Resolutions: “On warning signal that Russia may be planning Ukraine invasion” and “On opposing the Certification of Nord Stream 2”.
Joining the European political family of liberal and centrist parties, SP hopes to play an essential role in European political life and to take a proactive position to advocate for Ukraine’s interests, to cooperate at the interparty level with European partner parties, and to work together to defend democracy, human rights, and the rule of law.
